I like it?

During the Family Day long weekend Silvina took Akemi to an outdoor play park and the Ontario Science Centre. Apparently she saw some kids playing hockey in the park. When she came home she grabbed one of the ends of a form mat and started whacking a ball around - "I'm playing hockey!"

Her helmet way lying around and she wanted to put it on. Then out of the blue she said "Just like cousin Risa". I couldn't believe she said that. The last time we did an iChat with my brother in BC, her cousin Risa was wearing a helmet. It must have made an impression.

Akemi has a couple of linguistical quirks that probably have to do with her age. She likes to point at things and ask "What's that?" whether she knows what it is or not. Sometimes we'll call it something wrong and she will say "Nooo". She then likes to ask "I like it?" as though she doesn't know the answer to the question.

Sometimes she'll make up words too. "Are you...jabajaba?". I'll either shake or nod my head depending on my whim, and then she'll make up another word to ask me. Silvina thinks this came from watching Wall-E. There's a part when Eva is saying some words to Wall-E in different languages to see what language Wall-E knows.

My favorite is when she's in a good mood off on a planet of her own and starts to sing boldly "Yap pa pa pap! Yap pa pa pap!". Then softly and slowly "Yaa pa pa paa". And then back to "Yap pa pa pap!"
