Slow off the block

We had our family picnic on the weekend.  Akemi was looking forward to all the different races and events.  She was hoping to collect as many ribbons as last year, and maybe, just maybe, one of them wouldn't be just for participation.

She was very fast out of her chair to line up when her event was called, but not so much when the actual race started.  As you can see here, she was still looking at the starter when all the others had left the block.

 Seemed like she had a good time anyway.

The next day we went to see Ice Age, and we had a family dinner. She had a good time hanging out with her cousin Risa.
