Apple Bowls, Climbing, and Burgers

Today was a perfect day to go to the park.  In the morning we went rollerskating to the park.  I was surprised that she wanted to rollerskate because she hadn't had any interest in it in months.  I was hanging on to her as she flipped and wobbled to the park.  Her body looked like a sail flapping in a chaotic wind that constantly changed directions.

After a while she decided that she wanted to go to the playground.  She was climbing all around the monkey bars.  There is this one stretch of bars that sort of inclines and she was only able to go about half way before falling off.  Anyway, there are a lot of things to do at the playground and she did most of them.  Then all of a sudden she said that she was going to "do it" and headed straight for those monkey bars.  About halfway through it looked as though she was going to give up again, so I gave her some encouragement.  You could see a renewed resolve on her face, and she made it all the way to the end.  I was very proud of her.

Later in the afternoon we went to the reconstructed High Park playground and she challenged the climbing walls.  Afterwards we went to a burger joint for my brother's birthday celebration.

The picture at the top is of an "apple bowl" that she made one day.  Out of the blue she got busy with some paper, scissors, glue and tape.  At the end of it she showed me this bowl for her apple and a flag to stick into the apple.  She was quite content with what she had made.  She pointed out the blue paper that she put on top of the white paper to make it look better.
