We went to the parent - teacher interview at the school today. A very good report so we parents were beaming. She has two teachers and they're both so full of energy and excited about what they do.
Akemi was singing a very catchy song today and she was eager for me to tape it. I asked her what she was singing and she said it was Mimico splat. Then, she suddenly made a connection to the Mimico GO station and got excited. Take a look at the song.
We looked the song up on-line because Mimico splat didn't seem to make any sense. It turns out to be a song called Wavin Flag that was used for the Haiti relief and the World Cup. The lyrics are:
When I get older, I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom just like a wavin' flag
And then it goes back, and then it goes back
And then it goes back
I don't know where she got this song from or where she got "Mimico Splat". Silvina had a laugh because she knew the song.
Seems like everyone and their brother has a blog, so I decided to set one up too. This one is about my new daughter Nina Akemi.

Here are the comments under Planning for Further Learning:
"Continue to talk about stories you and Nina read together, and encourage Nina to re-tell the story, and discuss her favourite part. This will help to enhance Nina's literacy skills.
Nina is beginning to independently write simple sentences. At school, we will continue to encourage Nina to express herself in writing, encouraging her to draw and write when she is participating at various centres in the classroom, for example, the block and home centres."
This all-day junior kindergarten is really working well for her.
